I use Photoshop (Version 27.9.1) plus KI (Gemini 3.1 Nano Banana 2) to reduce the glass reflections. Prompt was "Spiegelung entfernen". (reduce glass reflections). OK so? Kamée (talk) 16:09, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I tried the whole process with the first image as well.--Fornax (talk) 07:32, 23 August 2026 (UTC)reply
For comparison I tried to do it manually using GIMP. @GualdimG: What do you think? Do you have an article in mind, where one of the photos could be used? --NearEMPTiness (talk) 21:08, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Amazing job with Photoshop and Gemini 3.1 Nano Banana 2. Thank you all for your time and expertise. I am sory but don´t have yet an article about the statue. Probably an entry in Wikidata first. Cheers, GualdimG (talk) 21:30, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
A wow from me too - amazing. -- Deadstar (msg) 14:19, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I insert the image at the gallery of the Ben Enwonwu article. GualdimG (talk) 08:22, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
IMHO the AI made the signature of the artist less readable. Ailura (talk) 13:10, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Feel free to layer-mask the signature back from the original file if detailed reading is needed. Fornax (talk) 16:52, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Removing the signature is a severe error. If nobody feels free to fix it i'll have to do a deletion request. Ailura (talk) 17:20, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Naturally, I expected nothing less ;-) At this point, pretty much nothing can shock me on Commons anymore. Do whatever workflow suits you best! Fornax (talk) 17:51, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Possible color cast / white balance check

[edit]

Article(s): Various articles using this image.

Request
The image looks slightly warm/yellowish to me. I'm not sure whether this is a real color cast or simply the lighting conditions when the photo was taken. Could someone take a look? If a white-balance correction is justified, a fix would be appreciated. --Flaspec (talk) 18:11, 3 June 2026 (UTC)reply
Graphist opinion(s)
I've given it a go; I also corrected the slight tilt in the photo and clone-filled the edges as necessary. Let me know what you think, can always revert if it's not liked - MPF (talk) 00:52, 7 June 2026 (UTC)reply
Thanks for the work so far, I like the white-balance correction and the slight leveling of the image. The result looks more natural to me.
One small question: do you think it's possible to reduce some of the visible image noise, especially in the sky, without noticeably degrading fine details or introducing an over-processed look?
If a clean noise reduction is feasible, I'd be happy to see that version as well. If not, I'm perfectly satisfied with the current edit and the request can be marked as resolved.
Thanks again! -Flaspec (talk) 08:00, 7 June 2026 (UTC)reply
@Flaspec Thanks! Unfortunately I don't know how to do the image noise (I can see what you mean, and noticed it yesterday), but anyone else is welcome to give it a go - MPF (talk) 17:22, 7 June 2026 (UTC)reply

Request

[edit]

Article(s): en:Paul Martin (illustrator) - reachable via the link in reference 93.

Request
Hello. Martin illustrated twenty magazine covers for Collier's. This suggestion for a cover was turned down. It may not seem like much, but it is unique and helps to back up the creative process, stated in a section of the illustrator's article. I uploaded the image a few years back, and never made any alternations except trying to darken the camera flash area. I don't know if anything can be done here. Is it possible to lighten the sheet without also lightening the words? Can the words be made darker and the sheet lighter? I was only able to decipher the text by blowing it up. Complete details are on the file page. Thanks. JimPercy (talk) 23:51, 4 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@JimPercy, please get a flatbed scanner that can handle largish documents, or find someone whose scanner you can borrow. It will allow much better reproduction of your fairly unique collection. JayCubby (talk) 18:23, 5 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I have a flatbed scanner. I know who has the original, but chances of my getting a better copy are uncertain. JimPercy (talk) 19:37, 5 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@JimPercy, contrast enhanced as best I could (without really painstaking regional contrast adjustment by hand), but there is not a lot to work with.If it fits in your flatbed scanner, scan it and upload the TIFF as a new file.
I thought this was a picture of the original paper, no? Is it a microfilm copy (it would explain the contrast issues!)? JayCubby (talk) 20:06, 6 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Thanks. I likely will lighten it up some on my own to look more presentable. It's more important for the drawing to be clear than the writing. I plan on later this year trying to either get the original by mail or a better copy to work with, but I don't know if it will be successful. JimPercy (talk) 22:30, 6 August 2026 (UTC)reply

How about my image? Scheridon (talk) 02:42, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Scheridon, I will have the ability to deal with it in a bit. In the meanwhile, could you overwrite the file with the non-downscaled version (where is the metadata? why 1600x1200px?). JayCubby (talk) 16:59, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Wikidata: Q10378922 Scheridon (talk) 18:11, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Scheridon, what does the Wikidata entry have to do with my above question? JayCubby (talk) 19:32, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Sorry. (Metadata ≠ wikidata) How can I get metadata? Scheridon (talk) 19:49, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Scheridon, did you upload this to the cloud before putting it on Commons? Did you edit this in software before uploading? JayCubby (talk) 19:53, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Sorry, again, because of my lack of intelligence. This picture is about the interior of a theatre in Pelotas, a Brazilian city in the Southern Region of the country. I would like to reduce the excess of light of the photo (taken by me), provoked by strong bulbs of the place. The picture is tottally original (not edited) and I did not upload this to the cloud. Scheridon (talk) 20:04, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Scheridon, what device was the picture taken with, and how did you transfer the picture from that camera/phone to the device you used to upload it to Commons?

I'm just trying to figure out how the resolution was reduced and the metadata disappeared along the way. JayCubby (talk) 20:11, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
The picture was taken with a mobile/cell phone (Motorola Razr 60). I transferred the file of this photo to my laptop using WhatsApp, and then to Wikimedia Commons. Scheridon (talk) 20:20, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Scheridon, the issue lies in WhatsApp removing metadata and compressing the image. On your phone, can you upload the photo to ImgBB and I will process it from there? JayCubby (talk) 20:23, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
This software is not free. Is there another way to transfer the photo of my cell phone to the laptop? Scheridon (talk) 20:34, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Scheridon, unless it is different on mobile, it should be?
https://catbox.moe/ is a good alternative. Paste the link it gives you once uploaded. JayCubby (talk) 20:39, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I will try to transfer it with a USB cable. Just a moment, please. Scheridon (talk) 20:50, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Done. Scheridon (talk) 21:22, 21 August 2026 (UTC) We have the metadata, now. Scheridon (talk) 21:51, 21 August 2026 (UTC)reply
