Have you considered Template editor?
[edit]Just out of curiosity, have you considered getting Template editor right? This is not the first time I've seen you with templates. If you apply, I would be happy to support or maybe I can apply on your behalf, a kind of nomination. Shaan SenguptaTalk 16:19, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Shaan Sengupta, thank you for your supportive message and offer.
- I have only been doing template work occasionally (0.8% of total edits), and even less often for protected templates (I think I have requested 8 edit-requests for templates so far). At the moment, I don't think I need the right for my current workflow, and I don't think I am going to be more active in template work. So, I feel comfortable to just request an edit-request when I need it, hence I'm not currently planning to get this right.
- Still, I greatly appreciate for your message, so thank you once again. Tvpuppy (talk) 17:07, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

A Thank you, you made me learn something nice
[edit]Hello Tvpuppy,
because you wrote this, I managed to learn a really helpful way to use VFC that I was not aware of. I did think that I had to use RegEx manually, not that there was such a functionality built in. Thank you!

- Great to know it is helpful to you! Tvpuppy (talk) 23:45, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Adminship
[edit]Hi, I see that you are a regular editor here with already advanced rights. Why don't you candidate for adminship? We are in dire demand for admin work, and you could help. Regards, Yann (talk) 10:20, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for your offer, and I really appreciate it. However, I honestly don't think I'm ready for adminship yet, as personally I think I need more experience before becoming an admin. Also, I am comfortable with my current level of workload, so at the moment I don't have much interest to increase it. Thank you once again. Tvpuppy (talk) 13:41, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Tvpuppy.
- It's great that you're satisfied with your current user level. However, I would certainly support your candidacy for admin position. Best regards, זיו「Ziv」 • For love letters and other notes 09:32, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
- Same here! Grand-Duc (talk) 16:51, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
- Count me in as well. Shaan SenguptaTalk 16:25, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
China Airlines logo
[edit]Hello Tvpuppy,
can I ask you to satisfy some curiosity of mine? The flower logo of en:China Airlines is quite complex (and thus perhaps grounds for Commons hosting issues per COM:TOO), but I think that the actual image, a plum blossom per EN wiki, could be old enough for PD-Old. Do you have some info about the motif and its provenience? Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 16:51, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Grand-Duc. The current logo featuring the plum blossom flower was first introduced in 1995, which is mentioned in en:China Airlines#Change of logo and livery (1995–2010) and en:China Airlines#Livery and uniforms. The logo design was not credited to any specific designer, so per COM:CRT/Taiwan#General, I would assume the design is considered to be "authored by a legal entity", hence it should be copyrighted in Taiwan until 2046 (publish+50+1). Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 19:38, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
- There's a reference (number 36) in en:China_Airlines#Livery_and_uniforms ("A new font was chosen for the company name and a new approach was taken for the appearance of the plum blossom trademark.[36]") about the logo, but that URL is dead and not archived in the state it was included in the article. Nevertheless, I can't exclude the possibility that the text is still available (the Internet Archive got a HTTP 301, meaning the content was moved somewhere) and could contain details about the logo history, but any further research is impossible for me, as I cannot read the characters... Do you have the time to look into the matter? If not, then the info you already provided is already useful. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 20:14, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
- Sure, I found the original text, it was a 2011 news article from en:United Daily News. I roughly translated and summarized the article, which states,
- The livery originally featured the R.O.C. flag, but due to political reasons, the airline changed it in 1995 to feature a "plum blossom in an ink wash painting style" instead.
- The airline originally used "stickers" for the plum blossom logo in the livery, but the stickers had peeling issues, so they decided to have the plum blossom logo to be hand-painted onto the livery.
- The logo has some minor adjustment in order to accommodate China Airlines joining the SkyTeam alliance in 2011. The alliance required the SkyTeam logo to be on the right side of text, so the airline move the plum blossom logo and the seal script to the left side of the text "CHINA AIRLINES".
- However, some online users commented on the new adjustment, which they said it makes the plum blossom logo "look more like plastic flower", "lost some of its ink wash painting style" and "less beautiful", but some says "the more simplified the better".
- Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 20:46, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
