Conservation Volunteers & Volunteer Rangers
Our group of conservation volunteers either meet up on a weekday or at the weekend and undertake a range of conservation activities, from pathwork to wildlife surveys, depending on the season and urgency of the task.
Aimed at 14-16 year olds during the holidays, the Mourne Youth Ranger Scheme is a great opportunity for young people to learn about their local environment, how to look after it, and what it means to be a Ranger in the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Being a Youth Ranger will build your understanding and appreciation of the important environmental issues, as well as give you some valuable conservation skills and experience.
We offer a wide range of possible thesis topics which are availed of by national and international students.
We always welcome volunteers who seek to gain valuable work experience while working with us to better our Active Lifestyles project; we are particularly interested in volunteers with skills in journalism, administration, web design, education, healthy eating, herbalism and bushcraft.
All volunteers will be given on the job training in task related conservation skills and may also be offered the following:
»» First Aid
»» Leave No Trace
»» Mountain Navigation
»» Leadership skills
